Awaas has many talented residents. People with the gift of a good voice and musical ability who contribute to the evening prayer ceremony in the room used as a temple (mandir) .Those with the ability accompany the hymn singing with drums and shakers. Sainath plays the dolak, a long double ended drum, the ends giving different sounds. He plays different rhythms with each hand, now and again as the song demands. he adds a foot tapping, all this while doing the singing too.
